Dr. Shelly Lee

Shelly grew up in the southeastern region of the United States the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants. She graduated with honors from Wake Forest University and then worked as a research assistant in infectious disease at Wake Forest’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine. In 1999, she graduated from Northwestern University College of Dentistry. She completed a dental externship in Colorado serving migrant farm workers and their children, and while there developed a real love and respect for nature and the outdoors. After dental school, she completed postgraduate training in endodontics at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where she earned a master’s degree in endodontic research. Her thesis included the use of revolutionary anesthetic instruments like the Wand™ and its associated techniques.

Dr. Lee served as Clinical Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Dentistry and in private practice in endodontics in Indianapolis, while her husband completed a radiology residency there. During her professorship at IUSD, she developed a passion for teaching and continues to teach endodontics today at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Her ten-year endodontic practice experience includes an associateship in the Washington DC metro area with Dr. Martin Levin, who is internationally renowned for his expertise in advanced endodontic techniques and technology. She has published research and clinical articles in The Journal of Immunology, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, Anesthesia Progress, and Oral Surgery-Oral Medicine-Oral Pathology-Oral Radiology and Endodontology.

Shelly has two brothers; one is an emergency room physician in Maryland, and the other an orthodontic resident at Ohio State. Her sister is a gynecologist in California, and her parents live in Auckland New Zealand and southern California. Consequently one of her favorite pastimes is travelling to see family. Other hobbies include cooking, bird watching, and weight training. She and her husband John live in Dublin with their three daughters.
